Regulations for Prince Edward Island fall under the Occupational Health and Safety Act General Regulations (EC180/87). The level and type of first aid kit required for your workplace depends on the number of employees on staff.

1-19, plus one first aid provider with Emergency First Aid certification

Type 3 Kit

20-99, plus one first aid provider with Standard First Aid Certification

Type 3 Kit plus First Aid Room

100 or more, plus one first aid provider with Advanced First Aid Certification as well as a designated first aid room

 

New Regulations for Prince Edward Island now require first aid kits for all workplaces with at least one worker per shift. Kit contents may vary depending on how many workers an employer has. All kits should be checked regularly to ensure they are still complete and any expired contents are replaced.

  • First Aid Kit for One Employee
  • First Aid Kits for 1-19 employees
  • First Aid Kits for 20 or more employees

 

Provincial Regulations also require the recording of any first aid provided. The records should be retained for a period of three years. The written record must include

  • The name of the injured worker
  • The date and time of the injury
  • A description of the injury
  • The first aid treatment administered
  • A description of the incident causing injury
  • The date and time when first aid was administered
  • The name of the first aid provider
  • The name of the person to whom the worker reported the injury
